The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) said it is prepared to submit observations and key questions on proposed reforms in the power sector if given the opportunity, emphasizing the need for careful study before implementing directives affecting electricity pricing.

ERC Chairperson Atty. Francis Juan said the agency aims to provide guidance on how the President’s directive can be carried out, particularly on provisions involving pass-through charges.

He stressed that such mechanisms are a global practice in the electricity industry and should not be hastily altered.

The commission also cautioned that without thorough evaluation, costs removed from one component may simply be transferred to other parts of consumers’ electricity bills.
