The Eastern Police District (EPD) remains on alert for possible lightning rallies at the EDSA Shrine despite no scheduled protest action in the area on Monday, September 21.
EPD Director PBGen. Roman Arugay said around 2,000 police officers have been deployed around the EDSA Shrine, while authorities are also stationed along EDSA-Connecticut, according to a report by RH Edniel Parrosa on DZRH.
The deployment comes a day after the August Twenty-One Movement (ATOM) held a protest at the shrine.
The group condemned the Supreme Court’s reversal of the graft cases against former First Lady Imelda Marcos and called for the passage of an Anti-Political Dynasty law and accountability for those involved in corruption scandals.
