LOS ANGELES, May 6 (Reuters) - Season 5 of the Emmy‑winning series “The Bear” will be its final season, FX announced on Wednesday, with the final installment set to premiere on June 25.

Created by Christopher Storer, the series debuted in 2022 and follows a fine‑dining chef who returns home to Chicago to run his family’s struggling sandwich shop.

“The Bear” has earned acclaim for its sharp wit and unflinching exploration of trauma, grappling with themes such as suicide, alcoholism and anxiety while balancing intensity with humor.

The final season unfolds after Sydney, portrayed by Ayo Edebiri, Richie, played by Ebon Moss‑Bachrach, and Natalie, portrayed by Abby Elliott, discover that Carmy, played by Jeremy Allen White, has stepped away from the culinary world, leaving the restaurant in their hands. As they fight to keep the business alive, the team bands together in pursuit of a coveted Michelin star.

The dark comedy boasts an impressive list of accolades, including a historic run at the 2024 Emmy Awards, where it set a record with 11 wins in a single season for a comedy series.

The show has also claimed five Golden Globe Awards. White has won best performance by an actor in a television series three consecutive years — 2023, 2024 and 2025 — while castmates Edebiri and Moss‑Bachrach have received both Emmy and Golden Globe recognition for their performances.

Liza Colón‑Zayas won an Emmy in 2024 for her role as Tina Marrero in the outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series category, making her the first Latina to win the award.
