Actor Elijah Canlas has confirmed that he and actress Miles Ocampo have ended their relationship, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding their status.
In an interview with Ogie Diaz, Canlas said he initially wanted to keep the breakup private but decided to speak publicly to prevent further speculation from affecting what they are currently going through.
“I just need to confirm it now so there won’t be any speculations that could make what we’re going through even worse,” Canlas said.
The actor declined to disclose further details about the breakup, saying he wanted to respect Ocampo and their past relationship.
“I don’t want to go into full details out of respect for Miles and our relationship,” he added.
Canlas admitted that the breakup was particularly difficult because they had previously reconciled with the belief that their relationship would last.
“We got back together thinking this is it, but yeah, that is what happens with relationships,” he said.
Despite their separation, Canlas emphasized that they parted ways mutually and without animosity.
“We broke up mutually and very amicably. There is no hate, at least on my part,” he said.
Canlas also appealed to their fans and the public to refrain from further speculation and give both of them space to process the breakup privately.
“Go easy on Miles, go easy on me. Let us heal,” he said.
Asked if they remain friends, Canlas said it may be too soon to determine, noting that their five-year relationship makes an immediate transition to friendship difficult.
“We broke up amicably, but we were together five years; it’s not easy to jump back to being friends,” he said.
Still, Canlas said he remains open to being friends with Ocampo in the future, adding, “The love will always be there, and she’s a great person.”
Ocampo and Canlas publicly confirmed their relationship in May 2022 and broke up in 2023. The two were later reportedly seen together at various events a year later, sparking reports that they had reconciled.
