

Cinemalaya film “Raging” is headed to the international stage after being officially selected for the Panorama section of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). The milestone was shared by lead actor and co-producer Elijah Canlas in a post on January 15.
The film is scheduled to screen during the Berlinale run from February 12 to 22, 2026.
Marking the achievement, Canlas reflected on his experience working on the project, writing, “one of the toughest yet most rewarding journeys I’ve had working on a film for sure. extremely honored to be an actor and co-producer for this. will forever treasure the magical experience of Sibuyan Island.”
He followed this with a message of gratitude to the film’s team, adding, “congratulations, direk ryan at sa lahat ng bumubuo ng raging! forever grateful for each of you. patuloy sana tayo lumaban sa lahat ng uri ng abuso. patuloy sana tayo maging mabuti sa kapwa at kalikasan.”
Set in 1990s Sibuyan, Philippines, Raging (2025) follows Eli, a young man grappling with trauma and isolation after being sexually assaulted by a peer. When authorities dismiss his report, his pursuit of justice becomes intertwined with the aftermath of a mysterious plane crash. The film explores themes of silence, abuse, male sexual assault, and environmental destruction.
Directed by Ryan Mechado, Raging was among the 10 full-length films selected for Cinemalaya 2025. It previously earned recognition by winning Best Cinematography and Best Sound Design at the festival.
