The first phase of the rehabilitation of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) is nearly halfway complete and is on track to be finished by July 2026, according to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon.
“We are currently, close to 50%" na ng phase 1 ng [EDSA rehabilitation] so we want to complete this all by July 2026 with the sidewalks,” Dizon said during a press conference on Monday, February 16.
The DPWH chief clarified that sections of the carriageway — or the portions used by motorists — are expected to be completed earlier, with works targeted for completion by May 2026.
This means that while sidewalk improvements may extend until June or July, motorists could benefit from smoother and improved road conditions sooner.
The rehabilitation project aims to address long-standing road surface issues, improve pedestrian facilities, and enhance overall safety along Metro Manila’s busiest thoroughfare.
Meanwhile, the DPWH is already in the final stages of preparing procurement documents for Phase 2 of the EDSA rehabilitation.
Dizon added that inspections are scheduled toward the end of February and will continue into March to ensure that ongoing works meet standards and timelines.
The EDSA rehabilitation began on Wednesday night, December 24, 2025.
