The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) reopened the EDSA Busway inner lane from Roxas Boulevard to Orense in Makati City on Monday morning, marking a key phase of the ongoing EDSA Rehabilitation Project aimed at improving public transport in Metro Manila.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez reiterated that the busway lane is strictly exclusive to authorized passenger buses, warning that private vehicles are prohibited and will be penalized for violations.
Lopez also thanked Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon for the swift completion of the project, noting it was finished within the original timeline in line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive.
To ensure compliance, MMDA personnel and Special Action and Intelligence Committee (SAIC) operatives will continue monitoring the busway, alongside the enforcement of the No Contact Apprehension Policy. The DOTr also announced plans to build three additional EDSA Busway stations, in Monte de Piedad, Cubao; Magallanes, between MRT Ayala and Taft Avenue; and along Kennedy Road near PITX, to further enhance commuter access.
