The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) continues to bring its services closer to the people as it recently held two barangay-wide Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) Seminars in Muntinlupa City and Manila.

On August 28, 2025, ECC conducted an ECP Seminar in Barangay Alabang, Muntinlupa, bringing together around 50 participants consisting of barangay personnel, sari-sari store owners, vendors, tricycle drivers, housewives, to street sweepers – actively joined the seminar. Barangay Chairman Christine Abas-Ding opened the program with her welcome remarks, underscoring the importance of awareness of social protection programs for ordinary workers and residents.

Meanwhile, on August 30, 2025, the Commission conducted the same seminar in Barangay 386, Quiapo, Manila, with over 60 participants. Barangay Chairman Amor D. Pahignalo also expressed her support through her welcome message, highlighting how such initiatives empower communities by giving them access to crucial information about government benefits and protection.

To set the tone, informational videos on the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004 were shown during registration. This was followed by discussions on the VAWC law by Atty. Ginalyn Madelo from ECC’s Appeals Division in Muntinlupa and Atty. Klarence Orjalo in Quiapo. Both emphasized the role of communities in preventing and addressing violence.

Participants also learned about the Employees’ Compensation Program itself. IPAD Chief Ma. Cecil Maulion presented an overview of the program and explained the benefits available to workers and their dependents. She was joined by Ms. Ela Bayangos of IPAD, who discussed compensable contingencies covered under the ECP.

The back-to-back seminars reflect ECC’s ongoing commitment to ensure that information about workers’ rights and benefits reach even the smallest communities. By engaging directly with grassroots participants, the Commission seeks to strengthen public awareness and empower Filipinos with knowledge of the protection they are entitled to under the law.
