Crowds began gathering early Sunday at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila as members of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) and supporters arrived for the group’s three-day rally set to begin later in the afternoon, November 16.

According to DZRH reporter Jecelle Ricafort, people were already flocking to the area even though the program was scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.

Some attendees, particularly those who traveled from far-flung provinces, stayed overnight near the venue and set up tents to secure their spots.

Authorities estimate that around one million participants are expected to join the mass demonstration, which INC organizers say is part of their continued protest against corruption.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) spokesperson Pol. Maj. Hazel Asilo told DZRH that police units are fully prepared should any untoward incident occur during the large-scale assembly.

Quick reaction teams, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) personnel, the Crisis Management Unit, and stand-by support groups have already been deployed. Asilo added that negotiators, investigators, and drone-assisted monitoring teams are also in place to help maintain order throughout the event.

The NCRPO has likewise activated its medical evacuation plan, coordinating with the Philippine General Hospital, Sta. Ana Hospital, and Manila Doctors Hospital to ensure immediate response to any health emergencies.

At 6:50 a.m., traffic slowed significantly along Roxas Boulevard near Quirino Grandstand as the crowd continued to grow. First-aid stations and other emergency facilities have been placed around the venue in anticipation of the influx of participants.

INC organizers emphasized that the event is open not only to their members but also to the general public who wish to join their advocacy.
