Filipinas tennis star Alex Eala swept past Great Britain's Mika Stojsavljevic, 6-1, 6-2, on Monday to advance to the round of 16 of the Toray Pan Pacific Open.

The 21-year-old world No. 20 dominated the 17-year-old Stojsavljevic, ranked No. 308, in her debut at the WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo.

Eala set the tone early, winning the opening three games of the first set before breaking Stojsavljevic twice more to take a commanding 5-0 lead.

Stojsavljevic managed to get on the board with a forehand winner down the line, but Eala maintained control and closed out the set, 6-1.

The Filipina continued her strong performance in the second set, breaking Stojsavljevic early to take a 2-0 lead.

Eala faced resistance as the British teenager threatened to break back, but the Filipina saved three break points to hold serve and extend her advantage to 2-0.

Stojsavljevic briefly cut the deficit to 1-2, but Eala responded by holding serve comfortably before breaking her opponent again to move ahead, 4-1.

The British player managed to win another game, but Eala broke serve once more to take a 5-2 lead and put herself within reach of victory.

Despite Stojsavljevic's attempt to extend the match, Eala secured the win in straight sets to book her place in the last 16.

The victory marks a strong start for Eala in her first appearance at the Pan Pacific Open as she continues her Asian swing campaign on the women's professional tennis tour.
