Filipina tennis star Alex Eala will face Chinese qualifier Han Shi in the first round of the 2026 Wuhan Open on Monday, Oct. 12, as she returns to action following her campaign in the Asian Games.

Eala, seeded 13th in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) 1000 tournament, will take on the 21-year-old Han at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center in Wuhan, China. Their match is scheduled on center court.

Han secured her place in the main draw after defeating Uzbekistan's Kamilla Rakhimova, 7-6(2), 6-1, in the qualifying round. She is currently ranked No. 231 in the world by the WTA.

The match marks Eala's return to competition after she won a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games.

Meanwhile, Eala dropped one spot in the latest WTA rankings released Monday, falling from her career-high No. 18 to No. 19 with 2,241 points.

The Wuhan Open is a WTA 1000 event, one of the highest-tier tournaments on the women's professional tennis circuit outside the Grand Slams.
