House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III on Thursday honored the heroism and sacrifice of Filipinos soldiers who fought and died for the country’s freedom during World War II, as he reminded the public that the liberties enjoyed today were earned through great sacrifice.
In his message on the 84th commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan, Dy emphasized that the nation’s independence was achieved through the courage of Filipino heroes and soldiers.
He stressed that the bravery of past generations should serve as a reminder of the cost of independence.
“Their courage reminds us that the freedoms we enjoy today were not given freely. They were earned through sacrifice,” he added.
The House Speaker also highlighted that valor extends beyond the battlefield, noting that everyday acts of service and compassion reflect the same spirit of heroism.
Dy called on the public to take inspiration from the country’s heroes and continue to uphold love of country through their actions.
“Nawa’y magsilbing inspirasyon ng kanilang halimbawa upang patuloy nating mahalin, ipagtanggol at paglingkuran ang ating inang bayan,” he said.
