Former president Rodrigo Duterte appeared in person before the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Tuesday, October 13, for the fourth status conference in his crimes against humanity case in The Hague, Netherlands.
Duterte’s physical attendance marks his second in-person appearance before Trial Chamber III, following his first physical appearance on September 16. He had previously participated virtually in his initial appearance before the tribunal.
The status conference forms part of the preparations for the opening of Duterte’s trial, which is scheduled for November 30.
The proceedings are expected to address matters concerning prosecution witnesses and evidence, disclosure of materials to the defense, and other arrangements ahead of the trial.
Duterte faces charges of crimes against humanity in connection with his administration’s anti-drug campaign. The charges remain subject to adjudication before the ICC.
