The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provides cash assistance to individuals who suffered injuries during the release of the educational assistance last Saturday, August 20.
DSWD Sec. Erwin Tulfo promised on Monday, August 23, that the agency will release the financial aid within the week.
"Bibigyan ngayong araw or within the week ng cash assistance bukod pa doon sa educational assistance na kanilang hinihingi," said Tulfo during DZRH's Dos Por Dos.
Hundreds of parents, some with their children, swarmed the offices of the DSWD, including the central building of the agency in Quezon City, in order to avail the educational cash assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
Some of the applicants suffered injuries while trying to get ahead of the queue, and inside the offices of the DSWD.
Under the AICS program, indigent elementary students can receive Php 1,000; high school students can receive Php 2,000; senior high-school students can receive Php 3,000, and vocational and college students will receive Php 4,000.
A single household can only avail financial assistance for up to three students.
