The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will resume its cash relief program for tricycle drivers outside Metro Manila starting Wednesday, April 8, providing ₱5,000 assistance per beneficiary.
The initiative aims to support drivers whose daily income has been affected by the continuous rise in fuel prices, attributed to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao confirmed that the program will initially cover over 328,000 tricycle drivers across various provinces, with the number expected to grow as regional offices submit additional lists.
Dumlao emphasized that the beneficiary lists were sourced from local government units (LGUs) and carefully processed through DSWD’s deduplication system to prevent duplicate or erroneous entries.
The program reflects the government’s continued efforts to provide financial relief to essential transport workers amid rising living costs.
