The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced that it aims to complete by May 20 the nationwide distribution of cash relief assistance to public utility vehicle (PUV) operators and drivers affected by rising fuel prices.
According to DSWD spokesperson Asec. Irene Dumlao, the government has already released over ₱6 billion in aid, benefiting around 1.2 million drivers across the country.
“Mahigit P6 bilyong pondo na ang naipamahagi sa nasa 1.2 milyong drivers sa buong bansa,” Dumlao said, noting that payout operations are still ongoing, particularly for jeepney drivers outside Metro Manila.
She added that more than 800,000 additional drivers are expected to receive assistance in the remaining payout schedule.
The agency also confirmed that a special payout for motorcycle taxi and delivery service riders will resume next week following coordination with transport network companies (TNCs) in the National Capital Region (NCR).
DSWD said TNCs will be responsible for identifying payout venues and directly notifying their drivers regarding schedules and locations.
Dumlao reminded drivers to wait for official announcements from their respective platforms, especially those registered under multiple applications or “multi-tapping.”
“Hintayin niyo po yung abiso ng inyong mga transport network companies… sila po ang magpapublish sa kanilang mga pages kung kailan at saan yung mga payout venues,” she said.
She also urged drivers to verify their names in the masterlist to be released by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) before proceeding to payout centers to avoid overcrowding and delays.
“Kung wala po yung mga pangalan nyo doon… hintayin nyo po yung mga listahan na ilalabas din ng mga transport network companies,” Dumlao added.
The DSWD assured that the cash relief program will continue until all eligible transport workers have been served.
