Survivors and other affected individuals in the Tacloban school shooting will receive psychosocial support, while families of those killed will be given ₱150,000 in financial assistance, Malacañang said Tuesday.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in coordination with the Department of Health (DOH) and the local government unit, has begun extending psychosocial services to victims, their families, and other individuals impacted by the violence.

In a statement, the DSWD said social workers from its Field Office 8 in Eastern Visayas immediately conducted psychological first aid and provided psychosocial support to bereaved families, survivors, witnesses, and other affected individuals to help them cope with trauma and emotional distress.

Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the agency continues to coordinate with concerned government offices to ensure that families of those killed and injured, as well as others affected, receive necessary social welfare interventions.

"Patuloy pong nakikipag-ugnayan ang DSWD sa mga kinauukulang ahensya upang matiyak na ang mga pamilya ng mga nasawi, nasugatan, at iba pang naapektuhan ay mabibigyan ng kinakailangang suporta at kaukulang social welfare interventions habang sila ay unti-unting bumabangon mula sa trahedyang ito," Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.

She added that the DSWD is prepared to extend further assistance as needed, noting that continuous assessment by social workers is underway to ensure all victims are given appropriate aid as they recover from the tragedy.
