The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the passing of one of its personnel, Engineer Larry Reyes, who served as the chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee of the DPWH Sorsogon First District Engineering Office.
In an official statement, the agency said the entire DPWH family is mourning the loss of their colleague and extended condolences to Reyes’ loved ones.
“While there is much speculation and unverified reports on social media regarding his circumstances, Engr. Reyes’ family has requested the public and media for privacy and necessary space to grieve his deep loss away from public scrutiny, especially during this difficult time,” the DPWH said.
The department emphasized that the matter is “profoundly private and personal” and not connected to any issue involving the agency.
“The DPWH urges everyone to honor the family’s need for privacy and refrain from discussing or perpetuating unconfirmed reports,” it added.
The agency assured that its focus remains on supporting Reyes’ family and colleagues during this period of mourning.
“We thank you for your compassion and understanding,” the statement concluded.
