Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) MIMAROPA Maintenance Division Chief Juliet Calvo was re-arrested on Wednesday, only a day after being released on bail.
Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed that Calvo has once again been captured. Earlier, she was allowed by the Sandiganbayan to pay ₱9,000 as bail for her graft case, according to RH 5 Val Gonzales.
However, with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and DPWH’s recommendation regarding the filing of charges against eight congressmen-contractors, the Office of the Ombudsman’s prosecutors have processed the case against Calvo, in which she has also been included in the malversation of public funds case.
Calvo is now under the custody of the Sandiganbayan and is awaiting her commitment order, to be issued by the anti-graft court.
The ICI earlier sought the filing of charges against eight “cong-tractors” or congressmen who own or whose families own construction companies and have handled projects with the DPWH.
