The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have temporarily suspended their Anti-Truck Overloading Mobile Enforcement (ATOME) operations along Marcos Highway starting today, December 10, 2025, until January 6, 2026.
In a public advisory, the agencies announced that the suspension aims to help ease expected heavy traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays, when vehicle volume typically surges due to shopping, travel, and public activities.
ATOME teams are normally deployed to check overweight cargo trucks, which contribute to road damage and can slow down traffic flow during inspections. The DPWH said the temporary halt will prevent additional bottlenecks along the highway during the peak travel season.
Despite the suspension, authorities reminded truck operators to follow load-limit regulations and road safety guidelines, noting that regular enforcement will resume after January 6.
