The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) certified as safe the major bridges that will be used during the Traslacion of the Jesus Nazarene, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso announced on Wednesday, January 7.
Speaking at a press briefing for Nazareno 2026 preparations, Moreno said the certification followed a formal request by the city government to inspect bridges along the procession route. The DPWH–National Capital Region assessed Quezon Bridge, Carlos Palanca Bridge, Ayala Bridge, and Arlegui Bridge 1 based on its 2025 Road and Bridge Inventory and rated all four in “fair” condition.
DPWH noted that railings and barricades are properly installed and secured, with no obstructions along bridge decks and pedestrian pathways. Moreno said the assessment is crucial due to the large number of devotees expected during the annual procession.
While some bridges, including Quezon Bridge, are undergoing rehabilitation, the DPWH said that repair works are being managed under safety standards and raised no objection to the use of the bridges for Traslacion, provided no vehicles are allowed during the procession.
