Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson admitted that he felt relieved after Senator Pia Cayetano was appointed to succeed him as chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, according to a Thursday report.

In a brief statement on X, Lacson called the feeling “double relief.”

“Double relief. I feel relieved that I am now relieved of my duties as the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman,” he posted, along with a link to a news article about Cayetano taking the reins.

While chairman of the committee, Lacson facilitated the inquiry that aided the case build-up against personalities involved in the far-reaching flood control anomalies, reported RH 28 Raymund Dadpaas.

In a more recent statement, Lacson clapped back at Senator Cayetano’s accusation that no minority—previously majority—senator inquired after their welfare following the shooting incident in the Senate building, where the new majority bloc was holding a caucus.

“Paano mo ba naman kukumustahin ang mga masasayang nagkakainan, nagkakape at naka FB live pa para pagbintangan ang minority bloc na may alam daw sa putukan ng baril sa Senado?” he hit back.
