Several oil companies have announced a P12.50-per-liter increase in diesel prices ahead of the Holy Week.
According to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort on DZRH's Breaktime on Monday, March 30, gasoline will also rise by P2.50 per liter, while kerosene will see a P2 per liter hike.
This marks the fourth consecutive week of double-digit oil price increases, due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
However, this week’s increase is slightly lower than last week’s adjustments, which saw diesel prices jump by P15–P18 per liter, gasoline by P8–P12, and kerosene by P12–P22 per liter.
Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether the price adjustments will be implemented in a staggered manner.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has previously stressed that it cannot compel oil companies to adopt staggered rollouts.
The government has secured 1.04 million barrels of diesel, with the first shipment of 142,000 barrels already in the country and the remainder expected to arrive throughout April.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin is set to hold a press briefing at 6 p.m. today, Monday, to provide further details.
