The Department of Transportation (DOTr) unveiled an official render of the very first mass transit link to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA): the 2.413-kilometer Metro Manila Subway Project – NAIA (MMSP-NAIA) Terminal 3 Station.

The project is part of Contract Package 109 of the MMSP.

Once the 33-kilometer, 17-station subway system is completed, the travel time from Valenzuela City to NAIA Terminal 3 may be cut down to only 40 minutes from the current 1 hour and 35 minutes.

An estimated 70,000 passengers daily are expected to benefit by 2035—with this number rising to 74,000 by 2045.

The MMSP-NAIA groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, September 16, marking the start of the construction of the underground station and its connected tunnels.
