The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is finally launching the student beep cards on September 20!

After being postponed for several days due to system issues, the transportation agency announced on Saturday, September 13, that they are officially launching the student beep cards with an automatic 50% fare discount on the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3.

Although the original launch was scheduled on September 15, acting Transportation Secretary Giovannie Lopez assured commuters of the agency’s swift action.

"Inutusan ko po ang team natin na tapusin agad ang mga problema sa system dahil alam kong matagal na itong inaabangan ng mga estudyanteng pasahero. Kung kailangang hindi matulog, hindi kami matutulog para ma-launch na natin agad ito,” Lopez said.

Starting September 20, the printing of the student beep cards, including the white beep cards for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), will be done on the spot.
