The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will provide free rides on the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit Lines 1 and 2 for various sectors from December 14 to December 25, in line with the Christmas season.

The announcement was made by Acting DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon on Wednesday, December 10, during the launch of the exterior lighting of MRT-3 stations at GMA-Kamuning Station.

Dubbed as the “DOTr’s 12 Days of Christmas,” the program grants free train rides each day to specific sectors during the entire operating hours of MRT-3, LRT-1 and LRT-2.

The schedule of beneficiaries is as follows:

• December 14 – Senior citizens

• December 15 – Students

• December 16 – Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families

• December 17 – Teachers and healthcare workers

• December 18 – Persons with disabilities (PWDs) and male passengers

• December 19 – Government employees

• December 20 – Female passengers

• December 21 – Families

• December 22 – LGBTQIA+ community and solo parents

• December 23 – Private sector employees and kasambahay

• December 24 – Uniformed personnel, veterans, and their families

• December 25 – All passengers

According to the DOTr, the initiative is in compliance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to provide Filipinos with safer, more comfortable, and more affordable transportation, especially during the holiday season.

The agency encouraged commuters to take advantage of the program and reminded them to follow train station rules and safety guidelines.
