The Department of Tourism (DOT) is set to announce two P-pop groups as the newest tourism ambassadors of the Philippines, according to Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay.

In a recent disclosure, Angara-Mathay said the agency will formally reveal the identities of the two groups on Thursday or Friday, this week.

While the DOT has not yet named the artists, the secretary said the initiative aims to strengthen the promotion of Philippine tourism by blending music and visual storytelling.

“We want to combine music and images together so that you form a feeling that stays. That’s what we’re after,” Angara-Mathay said, emphasizing the creative direction of the campaign.

She added that P-pop artists are effective partners in promoting tourism due to their strong influence and wide reach on social media platforms.

When asked for a hint about the selection process, the secretary gave no direct clue, saying, “Sinabi ko na paninindigan ko na ito kahit mahal pa o mura.”

The announcement comes after the DOT previously said that one of the P-pop girl groups being considered as a Philippine tourism ambassador is the P-pop girl group BINI.
