The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) highlighted initiatives to improve micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) productivity and competitiveness during DOLE’s flag-raising ceremony in Intramuros, Manila.
Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino commended the NWPC for implementing wage orders nationwide, including those covering domestic workers, while NWPC Executive Director Maria Criselda R. Sy emphasized balancing fair wages with business sustainability.
The ceremony featured MSME owners sharing their experiences with DOLE’s Digital Transformation Development Program, which provides training and assessments to help businesses adopt digital processes.
One MSME owner from Region IV-A said the program helped them use technology more effectively to develop better products and improve their employees’ skills.
DOLE implements the program through the NWPC and the Bureau of Local Employment, in partnership with the Asian Institute of Management, to strengthen enterprise development and workplace productivity.
