Former Ateneo de Manila University basketball coach Tab Baldwin appeared before the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Monday for a clarificatory hearing concerning his Alien Employment Permit (AEP).
The hearing marks the start of proceedings to address questions surrounding Baldwin’s authorization to work in the country. He was accompanied by his legal counsels, Attorneys Daniel Darvin and Janella Flordeliza, as reported by RH Tina Nolasco.
DOLE has yet to release further details on the issues raised during the hearing or a timeline for its resolution.
Earlier, the Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed it received a referral from the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) recommending the filing of charges against Baldwin and 10 others for alleged violations of the Anti-Hazing Act.
The developments come following Baldwin’s resignation as head coach of Ateneo’s men’s basketball team.
Further updates are expected as the labor department continues its review.
