The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Tuesday clarified that there will be no delay in the implementation of the ₱85 wage increase for minimum wage workers in the National Capital Region (NCR).
DOLE Secretary Francis Tolentino said the first tranche of the wage hike amounting to ₱60 will take effect on Saturday, July 25, 2026, while the remaining ₱25 increase will be implemented on January 20, 2027.
Tolentino explained that the adjustment only involved the publication schedule of the wage order due to unfavorable weather conditions earlier in the month.
The wage order was officially published on July 9, making it effective after 15 days in accordance with existing labor regulations, the DOLE chief said.
Tolentino assured workers that the approved wage increase will proceed as scheduled and that there will be no further postponement in its implementation.
