The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Francis Tolentino announced on Tuesday a ₱85 increase in the daily minimum wage for workers in Metro Manila.
According to a report by RH Tina Nolasco, Tolentino said that more than 1.1 million minimum-wage earners will benefit from a “historic” wage increase.
Itinataas po natin sa isang makasaysayang P85/day increase,” Tolentino said at an event at the Malabon Central Market.
"Ito po ang pinakamataas na recorded history sa Metro Manila na pagtaas ng sahod ng ating manggagawa," he said.
Under the approved wage order, the daily minimum wage for non-agricultural workers in Metro Manila will rise from ₱695 to ₱780.
The adjustment will be implemented in two tranches.
The first increase of ₱60 will take effect on July 19, 2026, followed by an additional ₱25 increase scheduled for January 20, 2027.
