Malacañang announced on Friday that Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Jose “Jojo” Cadiz Jr. has resigned amid alleged anomalies in flood control projects.
"Sa ating pagkakaalam, siya ay nagsumite na ng kaniyang resignation," Palace Press Officer Usec. Atty. Claire Castro said during a press briefing.
Cadiz was previously implicated by resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co in alleged government corruption, alongside President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and several other officials.
Co accused the former DOJ undersecretary of acting as a “bagman” for Marcos, allegedly following instructions from former House Speaker Martin Romualdez to receive cash kickbacks on the president’s behalf.
"As of the moment we have not talk about that. If there’s a need for investigation on that issue let the investigation be done," Castro said when asked whether the President was aware of Cadiz’s ties to Ilocos Norte contractors.
Castro added that she does not have information on the exact date when Cadiz tendered his resignation.
Both Marcos and Romualdez have denied Co’s allegations.
As of now, the DOJ has not released any statement.
