Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida is urging students experiencing bullying to report their cases directly to the Department of Justice (DOJ), saying prosecutors are ready to step in and address complaints.

In an interview on DZRH’s Special on Saturday, Vida said the agency is expanding access to its services so even school-related concerns can be acted upon when local responses fall short.

"Nagrereklamo ako, binubully ako, anong naging aksyon ng teacher? Anong naging aksyon ng principal? Anong naging aksyon ni kapitan? Ang gusto nga naming ilatag, pati ang DOJ dapat ang aming mga opisina maging open din.”

He said victims may approach government prosecutors, who will evaluate each case and determine the appropriate course of action — whether it involves filing charges, mediation, or referral to another office.

"Pag may bullying, punta kayo sa aming mga fiscal and we will find a way to resolve or to respond to the complaint on bullying.”

Vida linked the issue to the recent school shooting in Tacloban, noting that unresolved grievances, including bullying, can escalate if left unchecked. He said the DOJ hopes to intervene early to prevent situations from worsening.

Parents and students may bring concerns to the DOJ Action Center or any of the eight Regional Katarungan Offices nationwide, which provide free legal assistance, dispute resolution, and coordination with prosecutors.

Justice Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez said the offices are meant to ensure that individuals who feel ignored by school or community officials still have a place to seek help and be heard.
