The Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed on Tuesday that it has filed a grave threats complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
In a report by RH 9 Tina Nolasco, DOJ Spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez said the complaint was filed at the Office of the Clerk of Court of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) today, August 11, around 1:30 in the afternoon.
“We confirm that the complaint for Grave Threats against Vice President Sara Duterte was filed today, August 11, 2026, at around 1:30 p.m. with the Office of the Clerk of Court of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court,” Martinez said.
The complaint stems from a virtual press conference wherein Duterte said she was not joking about having contracted an assassin to target President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, and former Speaker Martin Romualdez should she be killed first.
Recently, the incident was reviewed before the Senate impeachment court, with National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Atty. Melvin Matibag’s testimony concluding the hearing of Article IV – threat.
