The Department of Justice (DOJ) has commenced a preliminary investigation into the tax evasion complaint filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) against contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya.
RH Boy Gonzales reports that, according to DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez, the couple personally appeared at the DOJ on Thursday morning to submit their counter-affidavit, opposing the case linked to the BIR’s claim of ₱7.1 billion in unpaid taxes from 2018 to 2021.
The alleged liabilities include personal income taxes, excise taxes on luxury vehicles, and taxes on the transfer of shares from their four companies.
The DOJ has scheduled the submission of the reply affidavit for December 5, 2025, and the rejoinder affidavit for December 19, 2025. After these submissions, the case will be forwarded for resolution.
