The Department of Justice (DOJ) has assured the public that the obstruction of justice complaint filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) against Senator Robin Padilla will undergo the standard legal evaluation process observed in all cases brought before the department.

The statement came after the DOJ formally received a copy of the complaint filed by the PNP-CIDG against the senator.

According to DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez, the complaint will be reviewed in accordance with established procedures and legal guidelines to determine whether the evidence presented carries sufficient basis and merit.

Martinez explained that if the submitted evidence is found adequate, the complaint will be formally docketed and subjected to a deeper preliminary investigation.

The preliminary investigation aims to determine whether there is probable cause to formally file charges in court against the lawmaker.

The DOJ emphasized that the evaluation process will remain impartial and consistent with the department’s mandate to ensure due process in all cases brought before the agency.
