The Department of Health (DOH) is ready for Traslacion 2026 on January 9, according to Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa.
More than 200 health emergency response teams from various DOH hospitals will be deployed along the Traslacion route to provide immediate assistance in case of medical emergencies, according to a report on dzRH's Rapido Hataw Balita by Boy Gonzales.
Herbosa encouraged the public to familiarize themselves with the location of the nearest medical station to ensure prompt help in case of dizziness, body pain, or other health concerns during the procession.
The DOH also reminded devotees, particularly the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions, to bring their maintenance medicines, adequate drinking water, and food, and to wear comfortable clothing to prevent heat exhaustion and other illnesses.
Earlier, the management of Quiapo Church announced that certain roads would be temporarily closed to facilitate smooth movement and allow medical teams to respond quickly if needed.
In addition, hospitals in Metro Manila and nearby regions in Central and Southern Luzon will be placed under “Code White” alert during the event.
This status mandates hospitals to remain prepared to respond to emergencies, including common health issues associated with the procession such as high blood pressure, dizziness, and, in severe cases, potential mass casualties, according to the DOH.
