In a statement released on Friday, July 17, the DOH said a total of 1,532 confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded from January 4 to July 11, 2026, significantly lower than the 5,070 cases reported during the same period in 2025.
"The Department of Health (DOH) reports that COVID-19 cases in the country remain low, with 1,532 confirmed cases recorded from January 4 to July 11, 2026. This is 70% lower than the 5,070 cases reported during the same period last year," the agency said.
The health department said it continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation through its regional offices and local government partners while maintaining disease surveillance and response mechanisms nationwide.
The DOH reminded the public that COVID-19 may present with no symptoms or may range from mild to severe respiratory illness. Common symptoms include fever, chills, sore throat, cough, runny or clogged nose, headache, fatigue, muscle aches, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and loss or change in taste or smell.
Despite the decline in reported cases, the agency encouraged the public to continue practicing preventive health measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.
"While the number of reported cases remains low, the public is encouraged to continue practicing simple but effective health habits to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses," the DOH said.
The department advised individuals experiencing respiratory symptoms to seek medical consultation at the nearest health center or healthcare facility and follow appropriate health measures to prevent further transmission.
The DOH assured the public that it will continue monitoring developments and providing timely, accurate, and verified information regarding the country’s COVID-19 situation.
