The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday that the number of recorded road crash incidents amid the holiday exodus has climbed to more than 400, based on data from 10 sentinel hospitals monitored by the agency.

According to the DOH, a total of 414 road crash injury cases were recorded from December 21, 2025, until 5:00 a.m. on December 29, 2025, reflecting an increase of 29 additional cases during the period.

Despite the high figure, the agency noted that the total number of cases is five percent lower compared to the same period in 2024.

Of the total cases, 305 involved motorcycle-related road crashes.

The DOH confirmed that four fatalities were recorded during the monitoring period, all involving motorcycles.

The data also showed that 343 individuals did not use safety accessories such as helmets or seatbelts at the time of the accidents, while 58 of those involved were under the influence of alcohol.

Most of the affected individuals belonged to the 15 to 29-year-old age group, making young people the most impacted demographic in the reported road crash injuries.

The DOH reiterated its call for the public to practice safe and responsible travel, especially during the busy holiday season.

The agency urged motorists to follow its “BiyaHealthy” campaign by wearing DTI-approved helmets and seatbelts, avoiding driving while tired or intoxicated, observing speed limits and road signs, and ensuring adequate rest before traveling.

Motorists were also reminded to avoid using mobile phones while driving to help reduce the risk of road crashes and ensure road safety for everyone.
