Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Ted Herbosa has resigned from his post due to health concerns, Malacañang confirmed on Monday.
During a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro said Herbosa stepped down from his post due to his health condition.
"Nag-resign po siya dahil sa kanyang kalusugan," Castro clarified.
Herbosa reportedly recently underwent knee replacement surgery, according to a report by RH Leth Narciso.
Meanwhile, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Dr. Jose "Brix" S. Pujalte Jr. as the new Secretary of the DOH.
Pujalte is an orthopedic surgeon from the Philippine Orthopedic Center and earned his medical degree from the University of the Philippines (UP).
Pujalte will take over the leadership of the DOH following Herbosa's resignation.
