Motorists will face another higher fuel costs this week, starting Tuesday, May 26, according to the Department of Energy (DOE).
In an advisory, the DOE announced that diesel prices will rise by ₱1.96 per liter, gasoline by ₱1.60 per liter, and kerosene by ₱1.45 per liter effective Tuesday.
The latest adjustments follow last week’s fuel price hike, which saw gasoline prices increase by around ₱1.20 to ₱1.21 per liter, while diesel prices climbed by about ₱2.80 to ₱2.82 per liter. Kerosene prices, however, went down by around ₱2.11 per liter during the same period.
The DOE said the price movements were driven by developments in the global oil market amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East affecting supply and prices worldwide.
“Ang mga pagbabagong ito ay nakabatay sa galaw ng pandaigdigang merkado ng langis, sa gitna ng patuloy na kaganapan sa Middle East na nakakaapekto sa global supply at presyo,” the DOE said in a statement.
The agency also assured the public that it continues to take steps to strengthen the country’s oil supply and protect consumers from the impact of rising fuel costs.
As of May 22, the Philippines has enough fuel supply to last for 44.82 days, according to the DOE.
