The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has reminded overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to refrain from posting, sharing, or distributing videos, photos, and other content related to attacks in their host countries, amid the Middle East conflict.

In a statement, DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac emphasized that OFWs “should strictly abide by host country security protocols and regulations,” following reports of the arrest of three Filipino workers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for allegedly uploading videos of recent missile attacks on social media.

Cacdac assured that legal assistance is available for the arrested OFWs.

“The Migrant Workers Office in Abu Dhabi has also contacted the families of these OFWs to give such assurance,” he added.

On March 16, the Philippine Embassy in the UAE confirmed the arrest of two OFWs and provided information about their location.

The Embassy also said has been in communication with their families and is facilitating legal support, including requesting consular visits, pending approval from UAE authorities.

It reiterated its advisory for all Filipinos in the UAE to “strictly adhere to local laws and regulations concerning the creation, posting, and sharing of photos, videos, and other online content, including AI-generated material, particularly in the context of the current regional situation.“
