Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said he is prepared to face the National Bureau of Investigation if summoned in connection with its probe into alleged anomalies linked to the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

In an ambush interview early Monday, July 20, Dizon said he is ready to cooperate with any investigation and is not concerned about the case, noting that he was cleared in 2021 of graft and malversation complaints, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort on DZRH's Dos Por Dos.

The public works chief maintained that his conscience is clear and expressed confidence that no irregularities occurred in the construction of the New Clark City Sports Complex, the main venue of the 2019 SEA Games.

Dizon previously oversaw the development of the facility in his capacity as president and chief executive officer of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.

The NBI investigation is expected to focus on alleged unliquidated funds related to the games, particularly those handled by the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC), which was chaired at the time by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.

Among the issues under scrutiny are reported irregularities involving food served to athletes, including the controversial “kikiam" meal, the procurement of cooking equipment worth about 5 million pesos, alleged unpaid obligations to travel agencies and uniform suppliers, as well as athletes’ allowances.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag earlier said Dizon may be called upon, if necessary, to help clarify matters as part of the investigation.

Dizon made the remarks during an early morning inspection of the EDSA rehabilitation project at around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
