Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon returned to Naga City on Thursday, August 6, to inspect the ongoing cleanup and rehabilitation of Sagop Creek in Barangay Concepcion Pequeña alongside Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region V Director Khadaffy Tanggol.

The inspection focused on the progress of flood mitigation efforts at Sagop Creek, the pilot site of the Marcos administration's Oplan Kontra Baha program, which was launched in February to address flooding in vulnerable communities through waterway clearing and rehabilitation.

Dizon, Robredo, and Tanggol assessed the status of cleanup operations and discussed implementing measures to improve water flow and reduce flood risks in the area.

Sagop Creek was selected as the flagship pilot area for the government's flood control initiative, serving as the model for similar interventions in other flood-prone locations across the country.

The inspection forms part of the DPWH's continuing monitoring of the project to ensure that flood mitigation measures are carried out effectively in coordination with local government officials.
