Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon denied on Sunday “fake news” which has spread on social media regarding a Wawao Builders’ “ghost” flood control project in Bulacan.

The agency contested the post’s claim, which professed that Dizon revealed the said project to be an insertion by the Bicameral conference committee and that he named several lawmakers involved such as Elizaldy Co, Mannix Dalipe, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

“Hindi kailanman nagsalita ang Kalihim (Dizon) na ang proyektong nabanggit ay Bicam insertion na may kinalaman sa ilang mambabatas tulad ng nasasaad sa social media post na ito,” the DPWH said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Dizon consulted with two of the DPWH’s previous secretaries, Rogelio “Babes” Singson and Jose “Ping” De Jesus, to seek their insights into the issues within the agency. Today, September 8, he also led his first flag-raising ceremony as DPWH chief, where he urged staff to assist him in redressing corruption.

On the same day, Wawao Builders General Manager Mark Allan Arevalo attended the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing.
