Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon ordered swift clearing operations on roads blocked by Super Typhoon Uwan.
In a Facebook post, Dizon also directed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to conduct urgent assessments of damaged roads and public infrastructure to ensure safe and swift restoration.
DPWH said clean-up efforts are now in full swing in areas first hit by the typhoon, including Romblon, Masbate, and Samar.
Personnel are also seen removing debris from landslides, fallen trees and utility poles, and other road obstructions to restore safe and normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, assessments are ongoing in other affected areas, including the Province of Aurora and other parts of Central Luzon that were directly struck by the typhoon’s eye.
DPWH personnel are focusing on the Baler-Casiguran Road (Baler-Dinadiawan Section) in Barangay Gupa, Dipaculao, Aurora, which was damaged by storm surges and debris from structures hit by strong waves.
The DPWH continues to coordinate with local governments and other agencies to ensure the swift rehabilitation of roads and bridges in areas affected by the typhoon.
The efforts follow President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s directive, said the Public Works and Highways.
According to PAGASA’s 11:00 a.m. bulletin, Typhoon Uwan has weakened, but Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals remain in effect in several areas across the Philippines.
