Businesswoman and contractor, Sarah Discaya, who is facing a non-bailable malversation case related to a flood control project, has filed a petition for bail at the Lapu-Lapu City Regional Trial Court Branch 27, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.

This was confirmed to DZRH News by the Discaya camp’s spokesperson, Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III.

Samaniego said that, in addition to Discaya, his client Ma. Roma Discaya Rimando of St. Timothy Construction—niece of Curlee Discaya—also filed a similar petition.

Although the case is classified as non-bailable, Samaniego explained that the accused still has the option to file a motion to post bail. This legal remedy allows lawyers to present evidence arguing that the proof against their clients is weak.

Discaya and Rimando remain detained at Lapu-Lapu City Jail in connection with allegations of graft and malversation involving an allegedly P96.5-million ghost flood control project in Davao Occidental.

Samaniego previously stated that Rimando intends to request a joint ocular inspection to show the court that the project in Cullanan, Jose Abad Santos, was indeed completed.

He argued that the project, which exceeded 2.4 kilometers, was affected only by natural calamities, which should not be blamed on the contractors.
