House prosecution panel member and Akbayan Party-list Rep. Chel Diokno on Monday said he was puzzled by the Defense’s inquiry regarding the presentation of their witnesses, when the subpoena has yet to be released by the Senate impeachment court.

“Ang tanong nga niya kung handa raw kami mag-presenta ng testigo ngayon. Ang isyu nga ay hindi pa nailalabas ang subpoena para sa mga uupong testigo bukas. Kaya para sa akin, it was not the kind of question that required an answer, dahil obvious naman e,” he said of the issue.

In addition, Diokno noted that Defense lawyer Sheila Sison, who had asked the prosecution this question, had also repeatedly violated courtroom decorum, under which litigators are to address their questions to the court and not their counterparts.

Earlier today, the Senate impeachment court began the trial against Vice President Sara Duterte. On Tuesday, the prosecution panel is set to tackle the fourth Article of Impeachment, or the grave threats allegedly made against the lives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his wife, First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, and his cousin, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
