Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced that his department will investigate the calls by rallyists demanding President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s resignation, as well as the call for withdrawal of military support for the government.
Remulla told reporters that the statements are “close to inciting sedition” and emphasized that such expressions “have no place in a civil society.”
“We will pursue truth, accountability, and justice, and follow due process against anyone who needs to be held responsible,” he added.
When asked whether the issuance of permits for a second day of the rally would affect preparations or security, Remulla assured the public that it would not.
“It will be the same. Pareho pa rin. Preparation will be the same, security measures. You will hear a lot of voices, sisigawan, pero para sa amin, parang normal na sa atin ’yan, di ba, makikinig lang tayo?,” he said.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said it will monitor the rally closely while respecting citizens’ rights to assembly, but reminded participants to adhere to legal limits in their expressions.
