The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) presented its proposed ₱332,507,655 billion budget for 2027 before the Senate Committee on Finance on Thursday.

DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla presented a video report of the agency’s spending proposal, which is 7.1% higher than its ₱310.472 billion allocation under the 2026 General Appropriations Act.

The increase amounts to about ₱22 billion and is intended to support the department’s ongoing initiatives and priorities, including safer communities, stronger local government units and enhanced emergency response.

Around 95% of the proposed DILG budget will go directly to the operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

The PNP will receive the largest share at ₱242.5 billion, a 7% increase from the previous year, to intensify police operations, strengthen the force and support the construction of facilities.

The DILG said the BJMP, BFP, PNP and Office of the Secretary have registered increases in their respective proposed appropriations.

Meanwhile, the Early Childhood Care and Development Council, Philippine Commission on Women, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, National Youth Commission and National Police Commission recorded decreases compared with their previous appropriations.

Of the total proposed budget, 84% is allocated for personnel services, 13% for maintenance and other operating expenses, and 3% for capital outlays.

“Our proposal for the next fiscal year reflects our commitment to sustaining our ongoing initiatives and advancing our goals,” the DILG said.
